The HIP Great Place To Work Portfolio selects from a universe of publicly traded firms featured in Great Place to Work® Institute’s 100 Best Companies to Work For® annual list produced for FORTUNE magazine published every year.
HIP’s Great Place To Work portfolio applies the index approach that Dr. Alex Edmans of Wharton has analyzed, which has typically exceeded the general market across previous years dating back to 1998. The HIP investment process weights higher HIP-rated firms with a higher weight, and lower HIP-rated firms with a lesser weight. HIP excludes any firm related to fossil-fuel production; and excludes firms with a very low HIP Rating.
Companies pursuing employee satisfaction and engagement tend to realize higher employee retention and attendance rates, as well as, increased productivity. These factors can both drive revenue and lower costs.
In 2019, the HIP “Great Place to Work” Portfolio returned +25. 4% after fees*, compared to the S&P 1500 Benchmark returns +30.9%.
The HIP Sustainable Real Estate ESG Portfolio (REIT) selects from a universe of approximately 200 Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and also includes natural resources, forestry, and timber companies.
This real estate portfolio is scored for sustainability, including results from LEED-certified properties, which can generate savings from consuming less water and reducing energy usage.
Properties pursing sustainability approaches tend to realize higher rents and lower turnover from tenants. Some tenants even experience higher productivity and attendance, along with fewer health problems for staff.
We have created this HIP Sustainable Real Estate portfolio of 74 securities designed to yield about 4% annually. Investors may find this portfolio useful for the goals of diversification, income generation and higher sustainability.

We have created The HIP Sustainable Global Dividends Portfolio of 63 securities with a target yield of 4% and designed to outperform its WisdomTree Global High Dividend Index. Investors may find this portfolio useful for the goals of diversification, income generation and higher sustainability.

The Nia Global Solutions Portfolio
The Nia Global Solutions Portfolio utilizes an actively managed long-term total return approach with a gender lens woven throughout. The investment universe is unconstrained, not tied to a geographic region or a specific benchmark. There is an emphasis on small-to-medium cap stocks, with fewer than 35% large-cap holdings, and contained at 40 to 50 publicly traded stocks. The Portfolio is designed to complement an advisor’s existing client equity asset allocation strategy.
